Demolition contractor on Long Island
Out here the lots are bigger, the machines get to the work, and the filing goes through your town rather than DOB.

Long Island building stock
Nassau and Suffolk are detached single-family housing on real lots, with garages, barns, outbuildings, pools, decks and driveways. Older village centres, mid-century subdivisions, and a steady stream of tear-down and rebuild on established plots.
What that means for a job on Long Island
Your town building department, not DOB
Long Island work is filed with the local town or village building department. Requirements vary between them and the process is usually simpler than a New York City demolition filing, but it is a different process and it needs to be checked for your address rather than assumed.
Space changes the method
Machine access, room for a container on the property, and somewhere to stack and sort material. That combination makes barns, garages, pools and full tear-downs run considerably faster than the same job in the city.
Asbestos rules still apply
Being outside the five boroughs does not remove the asbestos question. Older housing stock, cement garage roof sheeting and pipe lagging all still need to be handled properly and are still excluded from a C&D load.

Demolition on Long Island: your questions
Is the permit process different from the city?
Yes. It goes through your town or village building department instead of DOB, and it is generally simpler. Requirements differ town to town, so we confirm for your specific address before quoting.
Do you cover all of Suffolk?
We cover Long Island. On the far east end travel becomes a real factor in the price and we will be straight with you about that rather than quoting as though it is not.
Can you take down a barn and keep the timber?
Yes, as a dismantle rather than a demolition. It takes considerably longer, so decide before we start because the two run differently from day one.
